Speakers are a very personal thing. It really depends what kind of amp and playing you are into. In my case, I tried it in a Princeton Reverb (tube). It's darker than other speakers I tried but it has a decent, fairly balanced tone. It felt harder to play through it until I turned up the highs and in the end, I felt the sound was a tiny bit too boxy for me.
The metal mounting part has a foam around it. It looks nice but as soon as you mount the speaker, the screws will most likely rip it apart. I am not sure why they added that.
Still, give it a try. Some people love it.
