Thick and heavy
If you're tired of clanky, percussive, too-much-treble modern bass sound, this is the cure. Forget about losing your bass in a mix!
It doesn't do much except for making your bass tone super thick, round and heavy. Somehow it doesn't get too muddy and actually gives a nice and articulate attack to your bass notes which is a pleasant surprise.
I keep Brill knob cranked, otherwise it's a bit too dark for my needs. I also keep the Gain at its minimum (it doesn't do much for me anyway).
I don't use traditional amps or cabs, and this pedal kinda gives me what I need. It gives a great, strong foundation to my bass tone and filters harsh frequencies from drive pedals.
It's not a universal pedal definitely, since its character is too distinctive, but if you dig the 60s-70s bass sound - you'll love it.
I tried it with both of my basses (Stingray and P types). It works well with both but I gotta say with a P-bass it just shines. It works well with Stingray type bass too, but since it already has a heavy sound, I just have to be more careful not to overload the sound with too much of lows.
The build quality is good, the pedal itself is cute and guess what - this tiny things takes batteries as well!
In my opinion, this pedal would do just fine with one knob only - for volume. As I said, Gain doesn't do much for me, and Brill is always cranked.
