Sadowsky String Retainer 4 CH

Be aware that this "Sadowsky" string retainer is an OEM part that that can be found considerably cheaper elsewhere, without the Sadowsky logo on the packaging. You can find the EXACT same retainer on various online stores for about 1/4 of the price.

This time I needed a retainer FAST for an instrument I was building under a deadline. I couldn't wait for shipping from the other side of the globe, so I just went with this overpriced "Sadowsky" retainer from Thomann.

I would at least have expected the quality to be ok when Sadowksy put their logo on the packaging, but unfortunately that's not the case. The retainer itself is great, but the included screws are totally useless. One of them broke inside the headstock, even after pre-drilling the holes to correct dimensions. I wasted a lot of time extracting the broken screw, with the risk of damaging the newly laquered/polihed headstock on the instrument I was building under a deadline. Luckily it turned out ok. I ended up using standard pickguard screws, which worked fine.

I have now noticed that several other reviews also mention the poor quality screws.

Would I buy this priduct again? Absolutely not. If you buy it anyway, don't use the included screws of you will risk damaging your instrument.
