It prevents from slipping
At first I was disappointed when I unpacked it. Beginnig of the mat was torned around a tape which kept it winded. Sides were deformed. When I measured the width it was over 1 meter so unusable part could be cut out. The adhesive is good and surface of the mat really keeps objects from slipping.

This foam has lots of uses in my studio.
It's great for anti-slip, it's great for dampening resonances on metal materials and I often use it as finishing touch for self-made stands and furniture.
It's not extremely durable when handled without care, but that's expected from such a soft material.
