Awesome specks, terrible installation process
Unfortunately I did not get to use my USB Apollo Solo.
1st problem is the lack of USB cable inside the box. They require such a specific cable (USB 3 or later, Superspeed cable that is no more than 1m in length - actual suggestion from UAD support) - not just any brand, they actually have a list of cables that will be compatible. I think that for 500Euros - you could have gone and put a cable in there. Serios lack of respect for users.
2nd problem - installation - even if you do manage to get the right cable - you have to go through an overwhelming installation proces - this is NOT like Native Instruments Komplete plug and play stuf. No, This is developer skill type of installation. I needed to tweak BIOS several times before I could even hear a crack out of it.
3rd - if you do manage to install it - after going through all of the UAD forums and Youtube videos - you come face to face with UAD support - Leave a ticket - aaaaaaand its Christmas and the 30 days return policy at thomann has expired :))
Now I'm stuck with a USB Apollo Solo, witch i cant even sell online.
Whats the point of making such a great board if it takes tremendous patience and nerve to use it?
Guess its only for an elite few.
Hope Thomann takes it back.

The only reason why it wouldn't deserve 5 stars is the price
it's a little on the expensive side, but except that everything is spot on about the interface, the controls are very intuitive, it's made of durable metal and it's sleek-looking. Not to mention the plugins, they are game changing, unlike anything I've ever tried. I do recommend it.
