Zultan 14" Mellow Hi-Hat

I wanted some lighter high hats, but they feel to me to be as heavy as my Zildjian New Beats.

I put them on the stand and I played a few strokes and immediately thought that they don't sound at all like what I need from Hi-Hats for recording.

Really thin and hollow sounding, but at the same time, not really quieter or lighter than normal hats to me.

If you want just quiet cymbals for practice, I recommend some of the more affordable options from Millenium or other competitors.

On a good note for Zultan, I have the 12" Splash and I really like it, and it sounds great on recordings.

Immer dem Ziel verpflichtet, die Gesamtlautstärke meines Akustikdrumsets so gering wie möglich zu halten - ich bin auch Sänger, will was von der Band hören, will eigentlich ohne Ohrenschutz spielen - habe ich mir nach und nach fast den gesamten Satz an Mellow Cymbals bestellt. Diese Hihat finde ich leider - wie auch das 14 er Crash - zu hell und „patschig“, da fehlt mir ein bisschen die „Seriosität“ im Sound. Was aber eine sehr interessante einsatzbereitere ist: diese hihat mit anderen hi-hat Becken zu kombinieren. In Kombi mit diesem bottom cymbal kommen bei meinen Lieblings hihats (zildjian k, meinl serpants) sehr klar definierte, ultra leicht klingende Hihat Sounds heraus, die dieses Instrument für meinen Geschmack sehr natürlich dort verrotte wo es im Beat hingehört. Auch das top cymbal kann man gut kombinieren, allerdings nur als bottom cymbal ;) Als „stand alone Variante“ finde ich die Hihat deshalb leider uninteressant, ich habe sie trotzdem behalten und kombiniere sie mit meinen bestandshihats - das funktioniert toll. Verarbeitung ist top!
