This cymbal does not get boring with time
zhyjx 04.04.2022
Imagine buying a cymbal and 1 year after you bought it you still play the cymbal with the same pasion as you did in the first days. Not an expert, but this cymbal does not get boring with time, aslo not a valet breaker.More on the "dark sound",and some "trashy" overtones, but i guess i'm into them.I need to mention that since my set up is in progress of makeing,im using this cymbal as a ride/crash.

Amazing crash for the money
Vykintas 01.03.2020
I am not really sure why the Caz series is so cheap. I have tried Caz, Rockbeat, F5, Raw series, and the Caz seems to be the best for me.
The crash - i liked it so much I ordered a 20" Caz crash, which I also fell in love with instantly.
Caz crashes are thin (not paper thin). The response is really fast and it opens up really easily - you dont need to hit it hard to get the full sound the crash can offer - you can listen how it sounds on my bands youtube channel (search "amendedband on YT). Most people say its for jazz, pop or rock. I play progressive/death metal with Caz crashes and cant find a problem with that - thin crashes are GREAT for recording for any genre.
The crashes are dark and fast - the way i like it.
As for quality - my 17" was a bit dirty - I found several oily black fingerprints on it. The 20" crash was just absolutely perfect.
A note for Zultan crashes as a whole - i ordered my 17" Caz along with a 18" Rockbeat crash (which CRACKED - I will write a review on this crash after my replacement arrives), and the crashes sound almost the same, which was a bummer (you can even hear it in the sound samples). The Caz however is slightly better sounding for my taste.
All in all - I highly recommend this (and any other Caz series) crash - you will not get anything better for your money.

One of the best I've used
Mitch22 08.05.2026
I've had my fair share of crashes and this was purchased to take the place of my main crash (and needs to take a beating!)

I had an emergency situation where my main crash broke after years (a 16 dark matter) and I had a gig coming up so I turned to the old faithful Thomann. I tried something new and went to the live chat. I got paired with someone incredibly helpful (unfortunately can't remember his name!) and I told him about the entire lineup of cymbals I currently have, and asked for recommendations to see what someone who works with these cymbals suggested.

Based on what I had, he told me to trust him and try my first ever 17" cymbal, in the Caz series after I mentioned how much I loved my ride.

I play pretty heavy rock and this thing not only sounds phenomenal but has truly stood up to all the bearings, all the travel, everything I've thrown at it. Despite all the stick marks all over it, it may as well still look and sound brand new. The Thomman team know their stuff. It fits in perfectly with the rest of my lineup (14 DM splatter, 17 Caz, 20 Caz, 16 F5 which I have owned for years and is now cracking so I need to replace and will be using the chat again)

Can't recommend this cymbal enough. I get constant compliments, and I have truly swung around to the idea of playing thinner cymbals. I hit hard but always try to practice good technique. My thinner, more flexible cymbals like these Caz series have held up to absolutely everything because of how flexible they are.

Wonderful

I have Zultan Caz cymbals on a church kit I play regularly. I need cymbals that are responsive at lower volumes, as well as having the capacity to go loud. I have the 16 and 17 crashes, and the 19 crash / ride.

I'm delighted with the set, but if I could only keep one, it would be the 17 crash. It is wonderfully versatile. It has a quick but not ultra-fast response as a crash, you can ride on it at lower volumes for a very bright tone without it immediately washing out. I play a lot of cymbal swells, and this is just a dream to play them on: you can build a crescendo very slowly and it has a wonderful shimmering tone from very quiet volumes. It's hard to believe the price.

I have absolutely no reservations about this cymbal.
