Amazing Performance, Unexpected Material Failure
I purchased the AKG K712 Pro in 2022, and for the first two and a half years I was extremely satisfied with them. The sound quality is excellent, the comfort is outstanding, and overall they have been one of the best headphones I have ever used for professional audio work.
Unfortunately, after about two and a half years, some of the plastic components started to deteriorate and eventually disintegrated. Specifically, the plastic parts that connect the earcups to the metal headband structure have become brittle and fallen apart over time. This was very surprising and disappointing, especially considering that the headphones were otherwise performing perfectly.
What makes this particularly frustrating is that the acoustic performance, comfort, and design are all excellent. I genuinely enjoy using these headphones and would gladly recommend them based on sound quality alone. However, the long-term durability of these structural plastic parts does not seem to match the quality of the rest of the product.
I am sharing this feedback honestly and respectfully, in the hope that it may be useful to potential buyers and perhaps encourage improvements in future production batches.
