DiMarzio DP222 D Activator X Bridge WH

This pickup is a blast.
Perfect quality as expected from DiMarzio and installing went without any problems. The sound is bad as hell. Even when the pickup is lowered as much as possible, the pickup still produces massive output.
When I used my gain before on about 3 o'clock, I can lower it now to 10 o'clock for the same result.
Also It doesn't have that screaming sound I would have expected, It's much more in the direction of powerfull mid's and bass lines.
I would consider it for any heavy metal fan without any doubt, but also it is very usefull for all other styles.
For me I'm still not sure if I love it or hate it, because the gain produced with that pickup is so incredible much, much more than I expected....
But when going into clean mode, it is surprising. It sounds so clear and seperated like I have heard not often before from other pickups.
In low gain, it still growls very much. I think for classic low gain hard rock things it's not suited perfect because you can't lower the gain on the amp enough to get that typical sound without too much growl.

Der DP222 ist für mich das NonPlusultra bei den Pickups an der Bridge. Ja er hat mehr Power als man eigentlich bräuchte, aber dadurch gibts viel Platz für die eigene Spielweise und die Dynamik. Gleichzeitig ist er sehr unempfindlich gegenüber Einstreuung und sehr geräuscharm. Das macht ihn zu einem zuverlässigen Begleiter in Sachen Rock und Metal. Im Gegensatz zu seinem Bruder dem X2n lassen sich hier aber auch sehr schöne Cleans rausholen. Das Frequenzspektrum ist sehr ausgewogen und durch 4-Conductor hat man ne Menge Schaltmöglichkeiten. Dem Split fehlt ein bissel der Twang, aber in Kombi mit einem SC klingt er schön mit und saftig im Gesamtklang.
