DiMarzio DP100 Creme

This pickup delivers a classic high-output, PAF-inspired voicing with a distinctly hot-rodded character. Its pronounced midrange gives the pickup excellent presence and harmonic density, making it particularly effective for hard rock and early metal applications. The lead response is one of its strongest characteristics: notes are vocal, powerful, and harmonically rich, with plenty of sustain and articulation. Rhythm tones have substantial low-mid weight, while palm-muted chugs remain thick, forceful, and well-defined without sounding excessively scooped. Despite its output, the DP100 retains reasonable dynamic control and cleans up fairly well when the guitar’s volume is rolled back. It is also impressively quiet for a high-output passive humbucker, with low susceptibility to the typical 60 Hz mains hum associated with single-coil-style noise. Overall, the DP100 is a powerful, mid-forward pickup that combines vintage PAF character with significantly higher output, making it exceptionally well suited to classic hard rock, early metal, and aggressive rhythm/lead work. Also, be careful to read the wiring diagram properly, mine was out of phase by mistake and I almost sold it because it sounded nothing like on sound demos, but in the end I decided to get it looked at properly by a luthier. The rest is history.
