DiMarzio DP252 Gravity Storm BK

I've learnt with DiMarzio pickups that they are mostly tailored for a specific tone or application. In this case I chose the neck version of this pickup to complement a medium output bridge humbucker, since this is also not a high output pickup.
The reviews I'd seen and heard impressed me and in practice it does precisely what I'd expected. You have the warm tones you expect from a neck pickup, especially on chords. But the magic happens when playing single notes. I've never heard a neck humbucker that sounds so clear and detailed. It's almost like a single-coil in its clarity when playing individual notes. It's not the thick sweetness you normally get on neck pickup, but a drier and crisper. I've no idea how they manage to create this combination. It makes for cleaner sounding lead-lines in this position.
Listen carefully to this pickup first because it may not be to everyone's taste. But if you want more clarity in your lead tone when playing on the neck pickup, this might be what you are looking for.

Deze gravity storm in de halspositie van mijn prestige rg geplaatst. Nu een tijdje in bezit. De pickup valt op doordat hij erg strak en uitgebalanceerd klinkt. Ook bij highgain blijft de definitie goed. Ook opvallend is het minimale verschil in output in singlecoilmode. De pickup klinkt dan erg goed en bluesy. De output is wat minder hoog dan je zou verwachten bij een steve vai pickup, maar blijft erg strak bij hoge oversturing. Goede aankoop.
