Great bones and neck, but watch out for stock hardware issues
I was extremely excited for this ST-Modern Plus HSS, and the "bones" of the instrument are indeed fantastic. The overall build, the fretwork, the neck profile, and the truss rod functionality are superb. It was very easy to set up - vastly superior to my previous Harley Benton SC-450Plus. I liked the neck so much that I chose not to return the entire guitar when hardware issues arose.
The main letdown was the factory hardware. The stock Babicz bridge arrived missing a grub screw, and once strung, the saddles aggressively and consistently snapped my high E and B strings. It chewed through multiple packs of strings very quickly.
I contacted Thomann support, who were responsive and polite. The warranty process required a bit of patience, as they initially sent replacement saddle components that unfortunately still had sharp edges. However, they ultimately stepped up and shipped a brand-new, full replacement Babicz bridge along with some fresh strings to make things right.
Because of the downtime, I ended up installing an aftermarket Gotoh bridge out of pocket just to keep the instrument playable in the meantime, which required some extra setup and wiring work.
Bottom line: It is a fantastic guitar for the money, backed by good customer support. Just be aware that if you get a unit with hardware quirks, it might require some patience and a bit of your own setup work to get it playing perfectly.
