The Ibanez RG421-MOL is a lightweight and comfortable guitar. I personally love its “essential” design (minimalist + natural), which I’d describe as having a “Japandi” aesthetic—a decisive factor in my purchase.
The build quality is very good, especially for this price range—no complaints here. However, the tuners definitely need an upgrade; I opted for the D’Addario PWAT-6R2 (locking tuners), which are a perfect fit.
The Quantum pickups are decent, but they can sound a bit “muddy” on the thicker strings or in lower tunings (D or C), and they’re not particularly bright. That said, for this price range, they’re excellent. I’ve ordered EMG Marty Friedman (passive) pickups, which I believe will elevate this guitar to a higher tier. I’ll also replace the pots, as the stock ones are nothing special.

While this guitar can’t be considered a professional instrument, it is a pleasant and very comfortable tool.
