Roland JC-120

This is so very loud, and clear too.
I use channel 1 for mic, it's perfect, and completely seperate from channel 2, with no effects at all.
Channel 2 for guitar 🎸 any guitar sounds great through this amp.
The distortion (ch 2 only) is so nice and smooth, so usable, not hard or harsh, not much volume jump, could be used in church w'out concern.
Reverb, ( ch 2 only), is sweet, but I never use reverb.
Chorus, or vibrato, are nice too, on the foot switch for intros, outro's, with not much volume jump, sweet.
It's very heavy, but the provided castors help a bit, (careful as it runs away in the car park).
The sound from this is plenty good from the floor, better from a chair.

This is a great flexible amplifier to have in the studio.

The clea sound is excellent and if you place appropriate pedals in front of it (Tube screamer for example) it delivers an lovely overdrive tone.

It is also an amp that many gigging musicians have used, so they feel comfortable using it in the studio. It is also a very loud amp if you want to take it on the road.

Last but not least, it has wonderful effects. The classic roland chorus and reverb.

Hard to beat this amp. Its one of the few that works for Metal and Jazz. Hard to believe but its true.

Vor einem Jahr bin ich vom Vollröhrenmarshall auf den Transistor-Roland umgestiegen,
Zeit für ein Fazit: Er kann nicht viel aber das gut!

Es gibt wohl keinen zweiten Amp, der die Unterschiede zwischen Gitarren unterschiedlicher Bauweise und Tonabnehmerbestückung so sauber konturiert hervorbringt wie der JC 120. Wer Wert darauf legt, den reinen Gitarrenton zu präsentieren kommt hier auf seine Kosten - wer Vielseitigkeit wünscht sicherlich nicht. Der Roland kann eigentlich nur Cleansound - vgl. Metallica Nothing else matters - der eingebaute Distortionregler erzeugt nur mitleidiges Lächeln, für harte Bretter ist unbedingt ein Effektgerät erforderlich! Allerdings ist der Roland auch für einen Transistorverstärker, der schon 30 Jahre auf dem Buckel hat keineswegs unterkühlt, er klingt nicht zuletzt durch seinen charakteristischen Reverb und das Vibrato nicht steril und dünn - er tut eben seine Pflicht: Er verstärkt das Gitarrensignal.

Zu bemängeln ist von meiner Seite aus die sich mit der Lautstärke verändernde Klangcharakteristik sowie einige Gehäusevibrationen, die im harten Zerrbetrieb mitunter störend wirken - das Design schließlich gefällt einem oder nicht. Manche mögen es als altbacken und spießig bezeichnen: Ich würde sagen klassisch und zeitlos trifft es besser. Ich mag meinen Roland und gebe ihn auch nicht mehr her, weil wir uns so ähnlich sind: Kein Multitalent sondern nischig und spleenig - aber wir wissen was wir draufhaben!

Utilisation:
- Deux canaux, possibilité d'utiliser deux guitares sur le même ampli.
- Cet ampli craint d'être déplacé "on", à cause de la reverb à ressorts.
- Il faut veiller à allumer l'ampli en dernier et à bas volume pour éviter qu'il
émette un "schpoff" sonore nuisible et destructeur pour les tympans.

Sonorités:
- Le son clair est cristallin, le meilleur que vous pourrez avoir sur un ampli à transistors. Si vous cherchez plus de chaleur, utilisez judicieusement votre boucle d'effet, ou dosez le chorus analogique intégré.
- Ce dernier, ainsi que le vibrato associé sont d'excellentes factures.
- Pour ce qui est de la distorsion, elle est sale et sèche, et manque de punch. Selon moi, pour utiliser un son saturé avec le JC-120, il faut absolument passer par un multi-effet branché sur return: le résultat est à la hauteur de la qualité de cet ampli.

En bref:
- Ampli de qualité supérieure (à un prix supérieur)
- Amateurs de son clair de bonne résolution, bien venue.
- Ceux qui cherchent un ampli neutre pour les effets externes aussi.
- Si vous trouvez que le son est sec et froid (dû à vos pédale(s) / multi-effet(s) à base de transistors), branchez une pédale à base de tube(s) dans le retour de la boucle d'effet de l'ampli (ampli de courant). Le son chaleureux est reproduit très fidèlement. À mon avis, c'est le meilleur son que l'on peut sortir de cet ampli.
