Yamaha 14"x6.5" Recording Custom BR

Yamaha has once again built an outstanding piece of musical instrument in accordance with their pristine standard of quality and affordability. This snare can be tuned loose or tight depending on the musical requirements. A looser tuning gives a fat big beat kinda sound while the tighter tuning gives a crack that can only be achieved with a brass snare. The only downside is that not every drumhead sounds good on it. I'm personally using a Powerstroke 77 on the top and it's my go-to now. Good job Yamaha!

The Yamaha Recording Custom 14" x 6.5" Brass Snare is an absolute masterpiece for drummers seeking a perfect blend of warmth, power, and articulation. Designed in collaboration with the legendary Steve Gadd, this snare delivers everything from crisp ghost notes to thunderous rimshots with ease.

Sound & Tone

This brass snare offers a rich, full-bodied sound with exceptional sensitivity. The 6.5" depth provides a deep, punchy tone, while the brass shell adds warmth and a controlled amount of ring. Whether you're playing subtle jazz patterns or hard-hitting rock backbeats, it responds beautifully.

Build Quality

As expected from Yamaha, the craftsmanship is top-notch. The 10-lug design ensures precise tuning stability, and the high-quality bearing edges contribute to the drum’s overall resonance. The dual snare tension adjustment allows for fine-tuning of the snare response, making it easy to dial in the perfect sound.

Versatility

One of the best things about this snare is its ability to fit into multiple genres. Whether you're in the studio or playing live, it shines in funk, rock, jazz, and even metal. It records incredibly well, offering a balanced tone that sits perfectly in any mix.

Final Thoughts

The Yamaha Recording Custom 14" x 6.5" Brass Snare is a must-have for serious drummers. Its dynamic range, tuning versatility, and premium build make it an excellent investment. If you're looking for a snare that delivers professional-level performance with style and durability, this one should be at the top of your list!
