As an alto saxophonist who plays tenor for money lol, I found this horn to be an absolute pleasure to play!

The post construction makes the horn slightly lighter, without sacrificing the tone you'd expect to hear from a professional tenor saxophone, and the ergonomics and craftsmanship from Yanagisawa are second to none.

I've been fortunate to own and play numerous modern tenors, from Selmer Reference, Cannonball, and Yamaha, and I must say this has been my favorite modern saxophone so far!

For me, the Yanagisawa TWO1 hands-down outplays its direct competitor, the Yamaha YTS-62. Playing these horns side by side, the Yany has noticeably superior tone, response, and ergonomics while being in the same price-range as the YTS-62. I also play-tested this horn against a Custom Z, Eastman, P. Mauriat, and even a Selmer Reference 54, and it was the clear winner even over the higher priced horns.

Even with the additional import duties and fees, Thomann Music has by far the best online price available, especially if you live in North America, where Yanagisawa horns are severely marked up. It arrived to me in the U.S. just ten days after placing the order and was packaged extremely well. Apart from the action being a bit heavier than I would prefer, this horn plays great straight out of the box, and I imagine it will play even better once setup properly by a good tech.

For anyone looking for a solid pro-horn, especially as a North American resident, this is about the best value instrument available.

Das T-W01 ist also der Nachfolger vom hervorragenden 901er (post to body construction).
Anfangs war ich skeptisch, da ich von meinem Selmer Mark VII verwöhnt war. Hatte auch schon das Keilwerth SX90R und das Yamaha YTS61 in meinem Besitz, ein Selmer Mark VI konnte ich auch testen, jedoch ist in der Reihe dieser Instrumente das Yani ganz vorne mit dabei. Dieses W01 steht dem Mark VII um gar nichts nach. Ich behaupte sogar, es ist ein "modernes" Mark VI! Sowohl was die Applikatur, als auch Ansprache und Ton betrifft, ist es ein Top Instrument.
Sogar beim Vergleich zum etwas älteren Profiinstrument Yani 991 (Nachfolger ist eigentlich das W20), braucht sich das W01 gar nicht verstecken.
Die Ansprache ist über das komplette Register sowas von leicht und akkurat, das habe ich bei keinem Sax bisher so gehabt.
Das Mark VI hat zwar wie das Yani 991 eine "ribbed body construction" im Gegensatz zu den anderen genannten Saxes (post to body). Über Vor- und Nachteile lässt sich aber streiten. Vielleicht ist die ribbed body construction über viele Jahre gesehen doch etwas stabiler. Der Sound vom W01 gefällt mir persönlich jedoch besser als vom 991er.
Würde das W01 nicht mehr hergeben!

Bien mais un défaut sur le ré grave

A l’essai, le saxophone est plutôt convaincant avec une facilité d’émission et de cletage. C’est très agréable.
J’ai eu un souci sur le mien avec le ré grave qui « vibrait » bizarrement sur les poses de son. Pour un saxo neuf à ce prix, j’ai du le renvoyer. Le bec vendu avec ne m’a pas convenu. Mais avec mon bec otto link, pas de soucis.
