Good value, crazy cheap
Serban M 10.10.2026
I wanted the cheapest modeller out there to just for occasional personal practice and band practice, since I mostly use plugins and automation. But sometimes I don't want to carry my expensive laptop around. So in this price range the competitors are mostly Valeton and Mooer. I have had a GP-50, and ended up sticking with this instead, despite believing the Valeton digital algorithms sound slightly better. Why?

1. Expression pedal
2. 3 switches instead of 2
3. Bigger and brighter screen
4. Bigger battery
5. Easier to tweak

Yes, I do think the gp5/gp50 modelling sounds slightly better, but I'm not recording with this or playing live. I have tried a GP-180 also, and it's very nice, but like 33% more expensive. Altough, heard they updated and now have A2 lite native support. But I'm not that interested in NAM.

If you do the usual stuff, global eq to cut lows and highs, use IR's and some EQ, you ll get decent results.

I got some pretty good high gain results using the 5150 model and my own IR. Actually, the high gain results I got on this Mooer are better than on Valeton, even on the GP-180 I tried, but up until now I got meh clean/edge of breakup results, while Valeton does those better. Luckly I mostly use high gain.

Cons:
1. No stompbox mode, but heared Mooer will update.
2. Sometimes when switching presets you get a swoosh sound and loud crackling sounds and no sound from the actual chain. Switching again solves this problem. It's a bug that hopefully gets solved.
3. Preset switching gap, but even the GP-180 had it.
4. Pitch shifter is unusable, but all these cheap modellers have unusable pitch shifters. I m only putting this as a con because I personally wouldn't ship an unusable effect, and Valeton is also guilty of this.

So, the fact that valeton has a slight modelling endge, no stompbox mode, and that annoying bug that seems to be reproduced by multiple users, makes me give this 4 stars. But other than that, it's crazy cheap for what it does.

Unbelievable for this price
Panos Instrumental 27.06.2026
When I got this unit I wasn't expected much because of the price. However, I was surprised by everything it does! Do not expect the sound quality and dynamics of a quad cortex but this Mooer delivers professional quality tones. It can be used for lives and studio recordings and no-one will tell the difference. If you invest some time to learn it, you can create the tones you want and have it always with you. For me, this is the best "value for money" buy.
